Montery ,,,,, 1967

So , I am a few days late with this one,,, the Montery POP Festival was June 16,17,18,,, 2 years Before Woodstock,,, and is oft confused with infamous Altamont Speedway Free Festival that was AFTER Woodstock in December of 1969- where the Stones ran into some entanglements with a well known Biker group...

Montery featured the Mama's and the Papa's , the Who, Otis Redding,, The Famous Performance by Jimi ,, lighting his guitar on fire,,, Janis Joplin, and Ravi Shankar,,, Now , before you go thinkin that I remember all this,,, It was a documentary on the Dish over the past few nights, that just reminded me of these performances,,,, Seeing Mama Cass watching Janis,, and just being in Awe of Pearl's version of Ball and Chain,,, and then many of the Performers listening to Ravi Shankar (Mickey Dolenz included ) and watching the transformation of the Audience as Ravi's continues to play,, is Amazing,,, I hope you have time to watch BOTH halves of Ravi's performance,,, and Janis... I do not think that we can appreciate what was lost with the Deaths in 1970 of Hendrix (28) , and Joplin (27),,, what would they have become,,??

As you ponder that,,,, check out Ball and Chain,, I dare you to not tap a foot,

Here are Both sides of an amazing perfromance by Ravi Shankar..
