Derek Jeter came up short of being named American League Most Valuable Player (that went to Minnesota's Joe Mauer, which was richly deserved). But next to becoming a World Champion for the fifth time, the Yankees captain was bestowed sports' ultimate honor that exemplifies his accomplishments on and off the field, a recipe that defines Jeter's true essence.
Jeter has been named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year. He was chosen as the magazine's 56th honoree, becomes the first Yankee to be named SI's Sportsman and will grace the cover of the Dec. 7 issue that hits newsstands on Wednesday.

Perhaps more so than any season during his outstanding career, Jeter cemented his legacy as a Yankees icon and surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2009. He batted a team-high .334 and passed Lou Gehrig's franchise mark for base hits, which now stands at 2,747. He also lived up to - and even enhanced - his reputation as a clutch player, batting .344 with a .432 on-base percentage, three home runs and six RBIs. He saved his best work for the World Series, batting .407 to lead the Yankees to a six-game victory over the defending world champion Philadelphia Phillies.
I've always believed that as a captain, Jeter does his best work behind closed doors without drawing attention to himself. His play day in and day out, and how the team follows his example, is what defines a leader and valuable player. The nation saw it during the postseason and will get to relive it over the holidays.

B) Work is a mess,,, and I am covering for DAMN near everyone still,,

D) I already have a head ache !!  and it's like 5am !!

Ok, enough all ready,,, maybe things get better later,,, BUT don't count on it,,,  ok is that depressing enough for YA !??  Really ok,,, Hey remind me,,, although I don't know how you will do that , about the Best Cheese burger that I have ever had,,, Out Side of Le Cellier at EPCOT ...

ahh the art of Coffee making,,,, not the Brewing of the crushed up beans,, although who came up with that foir the 1st time,,, ..

"hey guys !  take these beans crush 'em up,,, and run hot water thru them -!!"  and VIOLA ! Coffee !! Oh,, then take some of the stuff that just leaked outta that cows udder, ,,,and put that into the coffee,,, along with a little of this cane fruit to make it sweet,,, and again ,,VIOLA !
and then we f'ing have  Starbucks chargin  $5 for a Caffe Latte Mocha Grande cappichino !!

Ok,, so each persons makes "their" coffee "their" way.

Black, Milk only, Cream only, Sugar only, Sweetner only,, oh yea that Splenda crap - made from sugar but not sugar,, WTF is it then !! Milk and sugar, extra lite, extra sweet.  Where was I going with this ,, oh yes,,,

Rewind to "BLACK" FRIDAY Morning - ~4am....

At the Mobil Mart Coffee Station is a guy,,, makin his cup ,,,

He starts  with the Cream, then 1/2 cup of coffee, then more cream .,... he then takes the red little stirrer straw thingy,,, puts his finger of the End, pokes it into the coffee,,, pulls out the Straw thingy with the Coffee Trapped in it cause his finger is over the end,,,, drains the coffee into the palm of his other hand that is cupped to hold the coffee & then proceeds to SLURP the Friggin coffee outta his hand to taste it,,, again I have to ask WTF !?!
He  repeats this process like 5  times ,, adding cream , the the Sugar, now SLURP.,,  then more cream, and more sugar, each time performing the SLURPPIUNG  !!  All this till he gets it just right. I was wondering what would happen if the CUP became full BEFORE the Mixture was just right.

I then have the good fortune of being behind him at the cash register. He buys "THE" Coffee,, a Bottle of Travel sized SCOPE Mouth wash, and 2 Slim Jims. and  he PAYS with a $100 Dollar Bill, for which they need his Drivers license, a Credit card, and note from his mother that the Bill is Legit !

Again - WTF !!   ALL part of the Adventure that has become  MY life in HELL !!

Ok,,, SO this course is easy to follow,,,, Start Way the hell out by the track at Arlington HighSchool.... run over to Dr Fink Road,,, that connects with Freedom just long enough to cross the Road , and go Up Cramer Hill,,, big hill ,,, Cramer then connects to OLD Overlook - go right on OLD Overlook , then Left on Overlook rd...  mostly downhill here till you make a right on Sleight Plass rd.  - water stop here (3 Water stops courtesy of the Boy Scouts) Sleight Plass into the Valley, one big ole hill near Plass's chicken farm,,, Go thru Mile 8, Water stop #2 here and keep straight on South Ave,, some traffic here to watch for... Keep right onto Rt 44,,, up a small hill , then right onto Traver Road,,, Traver is up and down for the next two miles,,, Water stop near Medaugh Rd. then a BIG HILL , last one at mile 12 .... reconnect to Freedom road, that then goes  all the way back to Dr. Fink, about 2 and 1/2 miles,,, Left on Dr. Fink, 1/2 mi, then  left into the Parking lot at the HS, a lap around the Parking lot,,, and you are done ! 15.5 miles,,,,

Here are the mile Splits,,, Geez,, I am a lousy Hill runner,,, and I think they got the Measurement of the Mileage wrong thru 9,10,11,,, no way I ran a 7:52.... All in all happy with the results,,, should hav listened to myself, and started out with the Tank top instead of the Long sleever,,, I would not have had to carry the LongSleever  back from the 2 mile mark , where I took it off,,, and I made th right call and brought my Fuel belt,,, Gatorade = GOOD STUFF !!

So ,,I ran the 13 miles in 2:05 ,, way faster than my Disney World plan,,, that will be a 2.5 hour 1/2 marathon,,,  saving myself for the Next day's Full 26.2 mile Marathon !!....

Black Friday,,, we are collectively NUTS

Ok,, so the Paper says the 1st person lined up at the Local Best Buy at 8am On Thursday !!!  So they gave up the entire Holiday,,, to sit at the Mall,,,, and as I drove down rt 9 this morning at 3:45am ,, the Mall is Packed, and Kohls, is Packed,,, Just what exactly do we need that is this important. This in a world of War,,, and poverty, and kids going to sleep hungry, and Abandoned animals,,, WE - as a Society have got it all Ass Backwards,,, Now , I am not lecturing ,, I am as bad as the next person, although we have tried of the past 5 years to change up our Holiday traditions, and Give food to the local church, and Adopt a Family for Christmas, as opposed to buying each other more crap we don't need.... 

So ,,I guess, I am only asking you , as the general populous, to consider what it means to be a person in the World, be a better Man to your fellow Men,, Help make someone else's Miracle Happen,,,

Turkey trot was  really good,,, I ran a 2:29:11,, I expected 10 min per mile, that's 9:40 or so per mile,, hey ,,it's just a jog pace, but it is exactly whatI need to do for the Disney Marathon. It was warm day,, at least for fat guys like me,,, so I was in a tank top, and shorts , with my new Fancy Fuel Belt,, and trusty I-pod. I ran the entire race,,, no walking up the hills,,,, but that Big one at Mile 12 on Traver road is stilla killer !! Greetings, folks..... there are a few issues to deal with at Thanksgiving,,,,

Back in 1976 for those that remember back to 1976,,,,, hummm,, where were you..???

Anyway .. there was a Concert at the Winterland Ball room in San Francisco  on Thanksgiving night , November 25th.... It was the Bands last Concert,, and although some of the members played together after that, and Levon, and Garth still do,,,,, they  NEVER all played together again,,,,

now the Band was ,,, Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Richard Manuel, Rick Danko, and Garth Hudson...  this was the Music from Big Pink band,,, that Big Pink house is or WAS in Woodstock,,,  That album changed American Music,,, and influenced a generation of Musicians...  The Band was the band that was with Dylen when he was booed off the Stage at Newport,,, when he "turned Electric," as they say,,,, 

Richard Manuel comited  suicide,,,, Rick Danko died from hard livin and drinkin,,, check him out  Doin OLD TIME RELIGION...  can you spelled Stoned !? Levon  and Garth  live in Woodstock, and you can catch them around that town on some days,,,, Robbie Robertson is still makin music,,,  If you care to part with a "C" Note, you can see Levon at his Midnight Ramble,,,, 

You should not only have the CD  of the Last Waltz,,, you should own the DVD also... with great performances by the Band, and Dylan, and Muddy Waters, Neil Diamond,,, and ,,,, well go get the CD.......

An actual day off,,, well , Mostly,,, I have a 10am Telecon with Burlington, and Bromont, they are looking for Shipment status on Wafers that We have in the line,,, ,, thats will be good though we shipped the EUH wafers,,,Early User Hardware last night !! so they will be Lovin me !!  and , I have a 5pm Staff meeting ! UGH,,, not so nice , but necessary....

Ok,,,I am off to the Planet GYM,,, and then Buying Bagels, and Coffees for anyone who shows up at Bread Alone !!

Maybe my Family will actually wait for me to eat with them this year. Now  THAT would be unique,,,

Ok, so I need a vacation,,, I know , I know,, I was just off ,, back in September,,, that was just 10 weeks ago,, but seems like a life time. I am feeling the affects of the work, and the workload, I am jealous of those with time off. My cohorts that work 180 days a year minus about 20 days vacation. .VS me that works 300 days a year, and calls in and signs on every other waking hour, I know I am doing something wrong !

the end of the year will just make it worse,,, but I know in a few weeks,,,, 7 weeks from today - wow that is close - I will be out for several days,,, till then it's nose to the Grindstone - so to speak, and full steam ahead !

So,, years ago I went to see Linda Ronstadt at SPAC,,,, - she had what at the time was the KINDA the "House" band,,, that if you check the then album covers they played on all the Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Brown, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt records,,,   Russ Kunkle on Drums, Leeland Sklar on Bass, Waddy on Guitar, the now Late Danny Dugmore on Piano, and Pleasant Valley's own Brock Walsh on Precussion,,, and Piano / Organ, and guitar,,,   NOT the "HOT band"  like  EmmyLou calls her's but still a group of outstanding miusicians,,, anyway,,, she started the concert with That'll be the Day,,,... she walked out in a white strapless dress similar to the one she is wearing on the cover of Hasten down the Wind. woof,,, she is Beautiful! We had my friends seats , three rows back just right of Center Stage,,, . and she says "Whoa...where the "F" ! did you guys get all the Trees ??  

any way ,, the more memorable part of the Show was that she did one of the Best Encores ever,,,, Linda did two encores,, one with the band,,,  and the last was Acapella,,, and she sang "When I grow too old to Dream" - in that amazing voice,,, why am I reminded of this today,,, I was using my old I-Pod and that song happens to be on there,,, so Enjoy ,,, a version with the Band,,,  here are two versions,,,I like the Muppet one,,,

and don't think that because right now my personal and professional life seems to be backed into a corner,, that I either Like it, or agree with it ,,, but tolorate it till a new door opens, and I can walk (run) through it !

Greetings !! Being at the Yankee Parade was great !! So much excitement, and WOW lots of idiot Yankee Fans (Like ME !) Wish I had a dollar for every piece of Yankee garb that I saw,,, 6:45 train was standing room only,,, and of course a few folks drinkin their morning Brew on the train,,,, I was interviewed by Sean of the POK Journal,,,, and is in Today's Paper,,, he sorta paraphrased what I said,,,, any way ,,a short trip uptown to meet Kimberly, and the Subway downtown to CITY Hall,,, ended up on the South-side of Broadway,, right across from Ground Zero,,  about 20 people back,,,It was hard to see over the crown,, did get a look at A-rod, Jeter, Damon, Matsui,, the Mayor with the WS trophy !,,,  CC... and Many othere truck with who knows who those people were. and in tru NYC fasion everyone started chanting "WHO ARE YOU" "WHO ARE YOU" "WHO ARE YOU" "WHO ARE YOU" "WHO ARE YOU" "WHO ARE YOU"  as the flat beds,and bussses past that we had no Idea who they were !!  a FEW A$$hole chants,,,,  and loads of TP, and confetti, and ticker tape,,, guess we reall don;t use TICKER TAPE anymore !!

Shot Back uptown for Lunch with Ryan,,,, They wnet owork, and I wandered down 5th Ave back to CGT...

While the train was Packed coming down,, not so much going North,,,, a few RLS hours later,, arrival in Poughkeepse,,,

An Evening with Jackson Browne at UPAC was GREAT,, and that does not begin to describe how terrific the show was .. He played the 1st part from 8:05 (UPAC and the Bardavon I have noticed start the shows very much on time,,, Not like the Chance) he played till ~9:15,,, took a 10 minute break and came back ~9:30 to 11:35 ! Like 3 hours,,, every time I thought he was done he picked up a different Guitar - he had 18 of 'em on stage with him., or he moved to the Electric Piano,,,

THE Highlights for me were ...Barricades of Heaven (opened with this) ,, Late for the SKY, Too Many Angels, Mystery Companion, Everyman,,, Shape of a Heart, played a 3 minute version of Free_Bird with his guitar Tech on and Electric Slide guitar, Running on Empty, Rock me on the water, DID Zevons "Don't Let us get Sick" and the Encore was I AM a Patriot !! WOW ,,, Definetly a top 5 Concert of ALL Time for me ! I have looked forwad to seeing him in this setting since the 1st Version of SOLO Acoustic came out,,,, You should pick up SOLO Acoustic 1 & 2 for a realy good listen,,,

Let's Talk Tuesday

In My business ,,, when you are out of the Office on Monday,,,, Tuesday is worse than Monday and Tuesday put together,,, and I missed MY site Safety audit,,, so playing catch-up with that group, and all the documentation that I need to provide that team,,,, ugh,,,  No one would ever miss one of these on Purpose,,,as it is 2 the work afterwards !!  

Line tour tomorrow,, 16 folks from across the businesses visiting me .  Brought by our VP..... OH BOY !! may get ot see some of my "friends" from the Great White North,,, 'eh..

Did I mention that Girarddi should be fired if the Yanks do not win the series,,, of all the Bone head moves not starting Gaudian,,,

Ok,   so Sunday I ran 14.5 Miles,,, marathon pace,, 10 min miles,, Monday I followed with a 6 miler,,, at 9:30 pace,,, and what hurts me today,???  My left Elbow !! feels like someone is stickin an Ice pickinto the joint,,, can't bent it , and can't touch the elbow to any thing,,, like the Arm rest of the Car door ,,, ouch,, seein Stars !! What the HELL.... I wonder if Someone has a HOBAN doll that they are jabbin with needles !! hummmm anyone of you????

I have moved from animal crackers ,,, cause the machine is outta them to Keebler Snack Pack,,, Cheese and PB crackers,,, ummmmmmmmmmmm   and old coffee,,,, I know you want some !!

Wonder what I am making for Din-Din ,, has to be better than last nights Farina !!

Ok,, A night off from baseball,,, I can catch up on all the stuff I TIVO'd !! Including BIG BANG Theory !!

A terrific Sunday,,,,,, A day off,,, A 14 + Mile run at what I hope will be the Marathon Pace of a blistering 10 min/mile....  the Afternoon spent at the Flea Market with the SPCA ,,, had 3 very good dogs,,,, Rex a German Shepard,,, Joey,, sort of a Pit Mix with some Mastif in him,,, a big baby,,, and Barney the Beagle ..... adopted out 4 cats,,,, and took in many donations,,,,,

A bit busy this AM,,, so I will get back with the recap of Game 4 - know this,,, I have been going to and Watchin BaseBall games since before I remember,,,, like 1962 was my 1st game,,,, and Never remember any one Stealing 2nd and 3rd on the same pitch,,, ok,, I guess if the Ball ends up in the outfield on the Catchers throw,,,, that does not count,,,, it was just Damonic !!!  and Alex with the 2 out double, scoring the Game winner,,,, guess you all gotta stop bitchin 'bout A-rod !!  oh, and Tell Tim MacArver to shut the "F" up !! Blanton hit Alex on Purpose !! ASS HOLE !

Sunday morning,,, in the Country where they turn back Time !

So - what did yuo do with YOUR extra hour???  wasted it sleeping,, I 'll bet,,, for us insomniacs we put that time to good use,,, surfing the WEB ,, pretending to sleep.... checking E-Mail... etc, etc.....

Now it is Eastern Standard time...  or back to what it should be BEFORE we started F'ing with it !!
