Are we even living ? Does not seem so - on some days ..... we go thru life - or parts of it struggling . I work - which BTW - I really like.... it is sometimes difficult to not get ahead of where I am here- heck I am just a worker bee ,,, that's it $10 and Hour bee,,,,
Although the TEAM has been at it 40 hours a week x 4 guys since April 1 getting the Marine ready and there is still a little work left to do,,, we started taking boats in today - well - fisherman looking for Stripped Bass,,,,
And tomorrow - I am solo (not Han Solo) from 6am - 8am and Thursday TOO - plus Thursday I get to do Noon to like 3:30 all alone - so If you looking to launch a boat - gotta stay for a week - none of this in and out stuff , cause we really don't open till May 1st....
"...We must learn to live together as Brothers or we will all Perish together as fools"
"Ultimately a man must be judged not on the basis of the color of his skin but the content of his character" from March 1964
I have a dream this afternoon that the brotherhood of man will become a reality in this day.
50 years after the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King - and I am not sure we have advanced the Cause Far enough, We are still fighting over race - we are still teaching our Kids to hate , to hate based on color of skin or ethnic background,,, and I am not sure when that will end especially given what passes for Leadership (Fucking Joke of a POTUs that we have) ..
I am just very sad of this today,,,, I was 12 when he was killed , but honestly remember it very well - at least watching the TV coverage of the Assassination...
Listen if you are not aware of the Group on Facebook of "The Hudson Valley in Pictures" - you need to be - such talented Photographers and what wonder photos they post. Go check it out,,, It's a public group that you can join just for the asking,,,, ok - thats my good news message for today,,
Woken Up at 3Am with leg Cramps,,, this is not RLS,, its a Never thing that the Neuro guy can't seem to get his finger on,,, a Neuropathy - yea right - all I know is that I would like it to end,,, I'd like to be able to sit down at night after working very hard or biking and be able to sit with out the leg thing happening,,, Laying on the floor helps - but that can''t be the answer.... Neuro patches and 600 mm gabapentin barely hold it at bay....
It's weird - happened a little when we was in Long Island and did not happen at all when I went out west ,,, not even a tinge ! gotta be at least partly environmental...
ok - went back to the Marina yesterday - in the Snow - still got the comfort stations back on line - those are toilets to you and me- and moved 50 + Ice eaters up the Main barn ready to be cleaned and stored for the summer.... Depending on rain today maybe we get the pump out dock moved into its summer position,,, the Pylons moved due to the Ice so may need to make some "adjustment" to get the ramp to line up correctly.
Oh and I am going for an Eagle a day - saw a juvenile in a tree in the cove - an adult flew in and landed under him - which I thought unusual - but the Juve flew away almost immediately.. 5 minutes later the adult took off for the other side of the river... then later another adult - or maybe the same one - came right down to pier end and grabbed a fish from the water and took off back towards the nest that's on the West shore,,,, NO photos - hey I'm working !
I'll do a throwback Tuesday with the Music this week - starting with SouthSide and the Jukes
and then let's hear Little Steven with a Johnny Lyon tune of
I don;t wanna go home...
Let's go for three spot and Who needs sleep - BareNaked Ladies with Steven Page,,,
Well - not yet. Its been a few hectic weeks so , lemme get you caught up..
Did I say I had another Grandson ? - well I do...
Did I say that #4 Grandson is well on the way - He is !
Did I say I bought the Last Jedi on blu ray - and can't wait for the Next movie!
We are still saddened by the loss of our Big Orange Boy - Jack a few weeks ago - it was so unexpected ,,,,, He was such a good boy,,,, Just wanted to sleep and Eat and try out every Cardboard box that came into the house.... Will take me awhile to get over not having him around ,,,
I have been bathroom building, and Fireplace building,,, and now going back to my seasonal Job next week,,,,
Early on in the baseball season,, but I would make 2 observations,,,, the Bullpen has not been that good and they were to be one of the keys to this team..,,, and with just a few injuries they are strapped for outfielders... And If teams see they can Walk Judge and Stanton,, and the guys behind them are not gonna get hits,,,,its gonna start to be a long season - early this year .... but hey - I still got 10 games to go to this year !! Just as Roberton gives up grand slam to Smoak and the Yankee 40-1 lead is now a 7-4 deficit.. and a 2 and 2 opening series after winning the 1st two games is very disappointing....
Listen - I'll reach out very soon,,,, if you have not heard from me in while - stay tuned here and when this baby hits 88 miles per hour ..you're gonna see some Serious Shit...ha !
While I have encountered difficulty in doing some of the work that I like to do - some of the DIY home improvement -nothing could have prepared me for what happened last week,,,
the installation of a window - that ok - was made more difficult by it being a new construction instead of a Replacement type, but that was just the beginning - when we finally got the rough opening big enough - and yes thats why the RO is about a inch larger then the window, so you have room to shim it and move it around to get it in Plumb and level - well that took about 8 hours over three days, instead of the 2 hours or so it should have taken ,,,
Then the TUB - well - try fitting a Five foot long object thru a 5 foot space , meaning that any little twist or turn will bind the tub up so you cant move it ., that meant we had to notch out the wall studs and then re attach pieces to them to fit the tub in. Again this process took about 6 hours .vs the two hours it should have....
Let's move to the Floor - We got the Plywood Subfloor in all right ,,, even thought it meant that we had to drop thru a hole in the floor 14 x 20 inches to get under the floor and attach the Drain plumbing,,, that actually went ok... then we started on the Durock install - I got the Wrong thinset ! and to add the Insult to the Injury - did not realize it till I was trying to fill in the Builtin gaps in the Cement boards with the thinset that I realized it was not what I had done before.. and it was the WRONG stuff... It meant that we had to remove the 3 sheets.. scrape off the thin set thws on it,,, Scrape off the Thin set that was on the floor and discard it... and literally start all over again.
Ok - then we installed the heating element and the SO called Self leveling cement that DID NOT !! we added more and that made humps in the floor - we decided to go forward - that we could flatten the tile with thin set when we got there.... We installed the Ditra decoupling membrane that was recommended for this larger format tile... nowhere did we read that the Thin set had to be really thin to get thru the Screening on the underside of the Ditra - well the Sheets did not stick to the FLooring,, and we were back to the beginning - Remember the Durock ? It meant that we had to remove the dozen or so tiles we had laid down,, and the 50 sqft of Ditra - and clean all of that of the Tile thin set, scrape off the thinset that was on the floor and start all over again??? - so that's where it lays,,,,,
I think from here we need to level the floor - however that has to happen then reinstall the ditra - checking that its stuck to the Thinset BEFORE we put tile on it,,
We were able to get the window in correctly, the TUB installed, the Durock on the floor and Walls, all the electrical installed and the Plumbing installed, Sheetrock installed on walls and Ceiling and 2 coats of mud on that, we sealed the Durock, and got two coats of RedGard on the Durock in the shower and oh yea the Readi Niches installed in the Shower walls,,, and a new vent, plus the Heated flooring mat installed - SO it was not a total disaster - Just a small Disaster...
So this week is Geez,, you could have killed yourself doin that week,...
Simple - I am finishing a wood project in the WOODSHED. I am needing a piece of wwod that is say 4 feet long and 1/2 think.... humm - what do I have here - so I don't need to go to HD to get one,,,
Ah HA - I see it in the over head of the shed - Uop where they run a horizontal support across the Roof Rafter to hold them in place - I and using that space for a lumber rack,,,
Ok,, Get the 2 step step stool, Lock it in place or so I think ,,,, go Up ,, step one step two,,, reach for the end of that board we spied out a minute ago and Whoosh ! The Stool collapses and flies across the floor. I am falling directly backwards heading toward the Floor of the Shed...
There is my newly acquired chop saw on its Stand about 8 - 10 inches to my right...... there is my double shelf Craftsman metal tool box about 6 inches to my left .. directly behind me 3 feet away is my wooden work bench - a variety of tools usually litter the floor - screw guns, Jig saws, hammer , crow bar, power sander, etc etc,,,,
I hit the edge of the chop saw stand with my right arm, and the graze the tool box with my left arm....
BOOM - I mean fuckin BOOM - I hit the floor - back first then ass then head - Did I say f'ing BOOM - yea well - BOOM,, I miss the Chop saw and stand- I missed the Metal tool box corners, I miss the Work Bench.... and there is noting on the floor under me except a few construction screws,,,, WOW
Hitting any one of those things on the way down, the Chop saw - the Metal box, the Work bench would have meant some kinda serious injury - certainly a concussion,,, probably worse especially if I hit the Tool box or the saw,,,, and yes - although i have my phone with me - Its up in the Bench and my my would not have come to check on me until it got near Dinner time - which was like 3 hours away - so woof was this one close.. All over Hurrying,,, and not ensuring that the Step stool wa sin the locked position... Won't make that mistake again !!
hummm,, what is a fitting theme for today's music.
