Just another New years eve,,,,

Whoa ,, what a year !!  Holy Shit,,,

Let's go back to last year,,, if I can even remember  that long ago,, he I am an old guy and the memory is the 1st thing to go,,

The best part of the year was a 2nd Grandson,, there is nothing better,,, he is such a happy boy, and watching my 1st Grandson grow up,,, he is so smart, and quick witted,,  make me very emotional to think about both of them.....


SO the speculation was that the company that I work for ,, umm worked for was to be sold,,, and that BIG BLUE was gonna get out of the Semiconductor business,,,   and sure enough this other Company GF Bought it,,   The transition was to take place in May,,, that got moved out to JULY 1st,,, and we we re all no longer Beamers,, we were Owned by a company Call Mubadala,,,solely owned by the county of Abu Dhabi.... WHJO cares we still have a job,,,, and I will say that the company bent over backwards for  us old Beamers... SO far so good,,,,  and and I retired from IBM,, ME retired,, wow, now I feel old,,,   except for Collecting that Retirement check every month,,,let hope that keep going for a long time...


Much of 2015 was blur,,, between awaiting the transition in the business, and then doing it,,,

Completed work on my Son's house , although he is getting the roof replaces,, we finished the Siding Outside,, the Stone work inside, refinished the Pool and repainted it,   sone #2 got 2 more Dogs,,, Cant wait to go out and visit them again,, maybe March or April or maybe for my ,,, ugh 60th
My daughter bought a house,,,a beautiful place on the Island, nice neighborhood, cute place mostly redone by the previous owner,, and her and her S.O. have made it their home,  they seems very comfortable there ,,,, It make me proud to say that all three of my Children own homes,,, investing in them selves and in the future of this country,,.   many other things young people do these days and not to say that that it wrong, cause maybe ot right for others to be Traveling the world, or spending  their money in Cars, or Merchandise,,, but owning a home - THAT is an investment in their Future!

Went to few good shows this year,  Southside Johnny, Cowboy Junkies, Joe Bonnamassa,,, all excellent,, Junkies we have seen 5 times,,, and this might have been the best show,,, at a place called  CLUB Helsinki in Hudson,,, was a good dinner and show

I did 6 weeks of Intraveneous IV treatment to treat a Lyme disease  that my Neuro MD thinks is causing the RLS,  because my Symptoms don't match up with RLS,,, and I have to admit that I am Cautiously optomistic,,, I am still on 2 meds for it,,, but the "Attacks" are far less, I keep waiting for the Twinges to be an all out onslaught, it has not happened,,,  in addition,, my insomnia has eases a bit,,, a bit,,,I still have those nights when I sleep  for an hour,,,and then am up all night. But then I have a few night a week that I sleep for 5 or 6 hours, and in the last two years that was a weeks sleep !!  so thats getting better,,,

GOT anew IMac,,, a new Subaru Outback,,,   really great computer,,, and well its a Subaru,, they just make great cars ,,,, this is like #6 if yo count the kids cars,,,

WE re-watched a show call the Power of Song,, the story of the  life of Pete Seeger,,, we actually  were at the premier of this film in Rhinebeck a few years ago.If you have never seen it ,, its worth finding it. Shows you the impact one person can have on a community and the world - he started the Folk music movement,,, and made the Newport folk festival what it it today and right here in the Hudson vally ,, wanted to clean up the rive,, someone told Pete that they used to sail boats on this river that were 100 feet long !!   called Sloops,,, he got the Idea to build one, and sail it up and down the river, to get people to look at the polution that was taking  place in the great Hudson Valley,,,,  most people laughed ,, he needed $150k, to build the boat, this was in the late 60's ,, and I don't  need to tell you that the Clearwater has been sailing the Hudson for over 40 years,,, a few Ironies out of the Movie,,, they Blacklisted Pete - if you dont know what that means - it meant that he could not appear on TV, his songs could not be played in Radio,,, think about that today,,, because he said it was his 1st admenment rights not to answer questions about who he voted for and who he associated with, and were they members of the Communist party -  Joe McCarthy and the House of Rep committe that ruined peoples lives back in the 50s,,,,  Anyway , they let Pete sing and tour Schools and colleges across the country - oh yea,,, those Grade school kids are not impressionable,,,,  out of this came the End of the Vietnam war the Start of the Folk music movement and the Enviromental movement, and oh yea ,, many of those kids grew into adults that supported those same movements,,,  this was a long way around to get to -  the Smothers Brothers who had the most successful show on TV at the time went to CBS and said ,, we want to have Pete Seeger on,,, CBS agreed - although the CUT the Song Waist deep in the Big Muddy from the broadcast,   there was such an uproar over the censorship that 3 months later he was invited back and play that song agin,,,   - in  the 90;s they Gave Pete the Kennedy Center Medal  of Honor,,,  talk about a turn around,,,  it proved the lesson of Turn , Turn Turn,,, a Time to Every Purpose under heaven.... I am looking forward into 2016 and beyond to that Season...........

Predicting the Future

In the Future you  will be able to look back and say that 2015 was the year that I lost myself and started to lose my  life..

It's Christmas eve,,,, was thinking of the past Eve's ,,, not long  past,,just my past...


When I worked for Dave Closson at the Chevron station that was across from Frivolous Sals on Raymond ave,,, we spent all the morning cleaning the Garages,,,,, Floors,,,and walls,,,, and at about Noon we raised the lists to table height,, put plywood sheets on then and table cloths,,, and then as much Beer, liquor and food as you can imagine,,, everyone that came in for gas left after eating or drinking something,,,  and many just came by for the festivities,,,  much of the food was supplied by the Braughhaus,,, and Gil Bastian,.. it was always great,,, and I went back even after I did not work for Dave any more,,,  he was great guy to have as a 1st boss....   All the Bars in town always had free food,, and handed out free drink also,,,,,  Brauhaus, Sals,,, and the Chance in the City,,, and the Dutch,,  I remember getting more than drunk,, going home ,,sleeping it off (as they say) and then going with my friends to everyones house,, for more of the same.. those were terrific times,,,

When we were 1st married and several years when the kids were small the EVE was at the Out-Laws house,,,, drinks and foods,,and Gifts,,,, seems every year we had an Race track that we set up and drove cars around and around,,, one year My F.I.L. got a Radio shack  "Color Computer"  it was all the rage,,,, you could play Pong and several other extremely basic by todays standards ... but then it was the Height of Technology,,,

After we were married and had a few children,, We used to go to Candle light services ,,,Rev Ben did a good job with his service,,, 7pm at the Arlington church,,,,  and my Aunt holding the candle with the wax dripping on her had and going  "ooo,, ow,, oh,,, Ouch"  too funny,,,,

As my children are now older,,,, maybe,,,we ,,,, I         need to do something to make the Holiday more special ,,, wish I had a fucking clue as to what to do,,, Admittedly ,, I am not good at these things..  andI am sure that a COLOR computer,,, or a Race track might not do it,,,  If you are reading this,,,I hope you and yours have a happy , healthy, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year..

I am cautiously optimistic,,,, I am still taking the Gabbiopentin, and the Neupro patch still attached to one of my,,, BUT ,, but,,, I have not had a massive leg attach in nearly 2 weeks,,,  ok, twinges,,, and I have been prepared for a full out attack each time,, but it has not shown up,,,, now ,, the tru test a month or so,, when I stop one or the other medicines and see the result,,, however,,, If I had to live with the gabbepentin for the rest of my life its far better than the alternative...

Its the Holiday season,, and while it is not my favorite holiday,,, gifts for my grandsons is the best thing ever,,,, and I cant wait to see their faces when they open some of them,,,,   we also did a good thing again this Holiday in that my wife and I adopted a family of 5 , 3 small children,,, they of course asked for toys "anything Frozen" and Lego's and Super heros,,,  it was much more sobering that the mom asked for Winter coats and boots , hats and gloves,,, shoes and clothes,,, my god,,, how can 3-5 yr olds NOT have proper clothes,,, why the F aren't those asshole politic types asking about that instead of whatever their BS agenda is,??    I even collected money for my Peers at GF to adopt a 2nd family - 2 small girls that needed the same stuff,,,,  memo to self ,, Gotta do more of this next year,,, lets say 5 families is the goal for 2016,,,

oh and 2016 will be another - I hope Disney trip with all the Kids and Grandkids,,,stay turned for more on that front

I am not sure,, but I think I have less tolerance for others these days,,, I see Pain in the ass ory ,,, in many people s actions,,,  Right ?? Facebook, needs to come with a fact Checker,,,, you have some responsibility that what yo are posting is true,, and not true ,, that the issue was raised 10 years ago,, and now cause your favorite move star or celebrity said it,, or you read someone else's comment , and are now posting it as FACT. Please,,, the latest was that Johnson and Johnson Baby products had formaldehyde. TRUE,... well,, they removed the formaldehyde years ago,, not because they had any more chemicals in them than any one else,,, but the perception,,,   the Nursery furniture you bought was made with Composite wood,,, guess what, more of that Formaldehyde  by a long shot that then Baby shampoo,,, and I got a real hoot out of the fact that the  person that posted the Johnson and Johnson  thing it is a Cigarette Smoker !!!  heck that out and what exactly you are exposing your Kids and Grand kids to as a smoker,,, and this from a former smoker that did just that,, and I only hope that it does hurt my children in the long run.  Try SNOPES as a fact checker next time BEFORE you post

I can't  help but think that the hearings in Congress on the Benghazi incident and the testimony of then Secretary of State  Clinton is a giant political football that the republicans are carrying to try to damage Ms Clinton in the eyes of the American people, as she is the Front runner in the Democratic party's nomination for President in next years election.

To date ,, she has been unflappable,,,   they have baited her to or tried to into a debate several times,, she has not taken the bait,, she has answered every question,,, she has seemed well informed, steady and honest.   Some of this os Party Politics, and some  Monday morning quarterbacking,,, OF course if anyone knew what was to happen they would have moved the Ambassador and the staff out,,, Who knew that !??  of course they might have taken a different action,, now knowing the out come,, and I don;t give a shit about her emails,,, These buncha blowhards need to stop wasting my money on this witch hunt and get back to running the country,, or whatever the hell they do down there ,,,

See the Light

A new twist in the ever continuing ideas of what is going with these legs,,,  NOW maybe not RLS at all,, but a Peripheral Nerve damage issue caused by Lyme disease that has gone not diagnosed  until  few months ago. The Treatment,,, intravenous antibiotics for month,, - every day for 30 days,, dont know how that all works as yet,, but some  CUT DOWN,, hum,, that don't sound fun to walk around with a  PICC line in ya,, to be tapped at any time,,, but given the affect (effect?) that this what ever the F%$^ disease has had on my life,,I am willing to do head stands while they do the treatments,,,   or anything else that might help..  SO I'll  let you know when I start, and how its going along the way,,, I am really hoping that this MD is correct...


1st Yankee game with my Son, and Grandson,,,,  always a dream of mine, so thanks for letting me live long enough to cross that one off,,,, Tanaka pitched a great game,, and the Yankees won 5 - 0,,,  P had Fries, and crackers, and Ice Cream, and was good as Gold,, for nearly 3 hours,, ,, on the way out on the Great Hall I stopped to point out Mickey,,and Whitey, Yogi, Donnie Baseball,, Big Dave, and Thurmon,,,   brought  tear to my eye,,  funny,,I doubt if he will remember,,, BUT I will NEVER forget,,,

I got rid of the ASK search engine,,, YEA !!  finally found direction for an I-mac and followed them intently,,, and VIOLA  - it worked-

I am continuing to have some physical difficulties,,, joint pain is the latest,,, from left knee,, to right knee, to this morning my left wrist,, so something is going on,,, even I think I  need to see an MD at this point,, But I am doing my best Dr Kildare,,, remember him ,, then you are really old,,, but I think with the assist of the Mayo clinic on line and WEB md,, its out and out Lime   - well not that line,,, this Lyme,,, 2 large red spots , one inside my right knew, on on the side of my stomach, Fatigue, Joint pain, specially knees,,,little stiff neck,,,, I think I have it right.

Yep insomnia continues,, some of it I am putting on the RLS meds I am on,, all have the side effect,,affect of Insomnia, - funny how its different nights in a week that I don't sleep.   latest was Friday and Monday last,, Friday  was zero sleep,,, laid there for a few hours,, then gave in,, Monday 45 minutes,, its weird,, I fall asleep , then pop awake,, and I could not honestly tell you if it has been 6 hours or 6 minutes,,, and in this case it was 45 minutes,, 9:15 - 10pm,,,

The Yonkers project is really gettin close now,,, a year of work,, with 5 weeks off for a broken hand and 3 weeks to build a bedroom on the basement,,, yes,, everything you see here we did , from the walls to the windows to the ledger stones,  looks nice huh ??


Yanks in 1s place,,, I am worried about pitching,,as that is what wins not hitting,,

Little league world series starts Friday,, I love watching those games the kids are great and the coaches are better,,, I just cant figure out how the parents can afford weeks in Pennsylvania,  while their kid plays baseball.....


HEY ,, I am retired,,, no retirement checks yet,, but ,, I work for GLOBALFOUNDRIES now,,, few slight changes,, mostly you would not know,,, but I think that has to change if we are to remain successful for the future,

Some angst in my family about growing apart,, while I think this is a normal progression of families,, no longer do we all live in the same place so we have enough people to harvest the crops,,, people find their own , move away from their parents,  and have their own life,,, travel time and distance just separate us these days. and while we are right now focused on the grandchildren,, they are small for so short a time,, the Smile and hugs from my grand son are the best thing in my life right now,, his face in a smile when he says  "pop-pop" - nothing better,,, wont be that always. and for those who think I need permission or try to make me feel guilty about seeing them - go jump.  I live right here in PK, ny ,, wanna see me ,, come on up or down,, or what ever,,,   its what we did ,, yes,, distance was closer, but we hauled 3 kids to my moms or out-laws every week, or darn near... That dynamic has not changed ,, it ain't parents traveling to their children,, its the other way round,, ahh  enough of that,,,  I am not concerned about these things others are and the guilt that my wife feels about it ,, I just don't. Ask those without parents if they should have spent more time bitchin at them or trying to visit them,,, gone is gone,,, can;t get that back,,,

Things are going well in retirement,, HA - hardest times I have had in the last 10 years..

funny,, as part of my "retirement" I get a statement from my ex employer - IBM ,- that outlines my cost for Retiree medical coverage,, well,  might as well just send my retirement check over to the medical department, as they about equal each other - nearly $1600 in Medical,, who's kidding who here,,,  one cold never retire of they have to pay that out of pocket cost,,, any one old enough to remember when as an IBMer you got free medical as an employee and as a retiree,,, just one more thing that was how would you say it  - STOLE?N - by corporate greed,,, although I did not feel good about the last Quarters results because they are going to pay us GDP - profit sharing (HAHAH) based on that result,,, so maybe get enough for a few tanks of gas.   We will see,,,

now its not IBMs fault that 47 % of my Vacation check was STOLEN by the Government for taxes,, Jesus  christ,,,   If I thought they were doin something useful with it I would not feel as bad.  GOOD GOD ,,,

Dis connection

Occurs to me that in this day , we , or I have lost my Family,,, now the have not gone anywhere , really,,,  Just that I think about when My family was young,, Minor  holidays,  and Made up holidays, and Sundays were all spent together.  There would not be a Fathers day when I did not see most of my children, and while realizing that they have lives of their own,  I am not sure its an excuse.   we ain't just talking fathers days, as I really don't care about that day in particular, as I  do the trend that things are going,, we  spend so many days apart. Its too far to drive,  and it is !  its way across the country, or its just not convenient  or no one gives a shit.

It could be that it is not realized that the opportunity is not always there, and saying I wish we had after we no longer can is meaningless BS.

I wonder why .......  why ,, no one comes to my house,  and we are not invited to others, I am not the easiest person to get along with, maybe that is  it... maybe the house IS too small ,    the every other weekend work does not help,,,  or maybe no one gives a shit,   maybe the small house is it,,, but it certainly seems unimaginable that my grandson,, has been to my home less than 5 times in over 2 and a 1/2 years. ,  the toys we have for him here or had,, heck we got rid of them,,, the playpen when he was young, the Highchair that was used exactly once, no need for all that. I contrast that with my children who were at both of their grandparents homes 5 times in probably the 1st 4-6 weeks of their lives, why is that  ?  I am not judging,, I just don't know,, and I would like to..  my Grand son has been to 3 maybe  4 Yankee games,,,   but not with me - don't know why that is....  We took our kids ,, perhaps not at two,, but hauled them all there when they were young. 

I guess I just do not understand why,,,  no one will say,, that's normally not the kind of thing that is said as people think that there is something terrible about telling the Truth.

I think its time for me to change my part of the behavior,, to just wait to be called,,   I am just concerned that my life will end, and I will see that it was me all along that no one wanted around,,, or maybe no one gives a shit,,

Do you know that as a Fat person, no clothes actually fit you ?             I don't care what the Mens Warehouse says - nothing fits,.. pants are too tight here,  too Baggy there,... You have trouble getting up,, you prop yourself on other items to stand or walk. You sweat,,, sometimes ,,, ok Always,,, it seems too hot.   xl in one brand is L in another is an XXL,, so who knows exactly what to buy,, BUt Like I said,, just buy it big..  People look at you,, that knew you whenn you  were Normal sized,,, and If they thought little of you before they think less now,, F 'em.

Demo done,,,   walls have been reframed with 2x4 Doug , all the electrical rought in  in is completed. the insulation is done,, and the Sheet rock is 90 % up,,, need a few more screws and pieces in the closet.   Muddling painting Ceiling , recessed lights are all next.

sleeping is worse,,  Last night was pretty typical,,, fall a sleep ~10pm  wake at 11:45,,,, doze off  a bit after 2am,, and finally get up 2:30 - 3am ish,,, and then by this time of the day I am exhausted  and when I nod off,, I have thei great habit now of Biting my tongue,


Base ball season has started,, so far ,, so good,,,although we sat thru 12 of a 13 inning loss in the Bronx,, at least it was a nice  day !


Its end of the day ,, and I am taking a minute to collect the thoughts of today

how does one go from being maybe the near healthiest 58 year old to the worst 59 year old,.. weight gain ,, yes,,,, sleep deprived  - yup, Over eating - ay yuh,,, Breathing issues - ok,,, what has happened,, well what ever it is I am betting it is not going to go on for too much longer,,, you dont see many Fat older guys,,, we just dont live long.

Now if you are reading this ,, its not a Cry for Help , its not that I want anything bad to happen,  its reality TV - sans the Set,,,

You have some things that are jsut aggravating,,,  a busted hand,,, 1st bone in 58 years,, and BOOM ! a richoet off that table saw blade send a triangle of  3/4" pine thats roughly 24  x 24 x 30 triangle back at me at  - what 50 MPH,, hits the left hand enought to break it and my gut enough for a bruise the size of a Softball, yea, ouch. and thats to say nothing of the wonderfulness of having my hanf cast for a month, can't button a shirt or time my shoes,,, just wonderful ,

Hey - we are off to Vegas in a week,, see D & A and of course the Star of LAS VEGAS - TITAN,, can wait to meet him..  Maybe see some desert,  lose a C note on the Roulette wheel,,,chekc out the Circ Du Solie - LOVE,,,

So. We are actually here in the Las Vegas.  And man is it great. First night was the best ... Dinner at a place in the Mirage ,,, a place yea ... Portofino. Super nice Italian restraint in the resort. Seated in a corner booth...the consierir comes over shakes hands with my son... Takes our menus away,,,   Talks about samples of all the food,, offer drinks , champagne and then we get like the best service you ever had .    Tons of food , we go right from there to the Beatles LOVE ,,, I've seen  3 Cirque du Soleil,s - this by far the best ,,, an extravaganza of the max...  And all the music you relate to... WOW..  THe next days followed by , the Hoover dam,, Red Rock Canyon, and the Valley of Fire.. Has to be seen,,, even my Canon can't capture the beauty.   My son and daughters-in-law are the perfect hosts....  Titan - the family pit mix - hates me...  We can only hope the next two days are 1/2 what the first few have been.... One note.  I am still not on Vegas time... Up at 2:30am!

If it's me.. We go to Boulder city.. Counts Kustoms and the Gold & Silver pawn shop, plus Freemont street at night.  If  we get to do the Linq - huge Ferris wheel like the London I ... And maybe see Jeff  Dunham... I,lol let ya know...
