I'm a Little fuzzy on this whole good bad thing

While I have encountered difficulty in doing some of the work that I like to do - some of the DIY home improvement -nothing could have prepared me for what happened last week,,,

the installation of a window - that ok - was made more difficult by it being a new construction instead of a Replacement type, but that was just the beginning - when we finally got the rough opening big enough - and yes thats why the RO is about a inch larger then the window, so you have room to shim it and move it around to get it in Plumb and level - well that took about  8 hours over three days, instead of the 2 hours or so it should have taken ,,,

Then the TUB - well - try fitting a Five foot long object thru a 5 foot space , meaning that any little twist or turn will bind the tub up so you cant move it .,  that meant we had to notch out the wall studs and then re attach pieces to them to fit the tub in. Again this process took about 6 hours .vs the two hours it should have....

Let's move to the Floor - We got the Plywood Subfloor in all right ,,, even thought it meant that we had to drop thru a hole in the floor 14 x 20 inches to get under the floor and attach the Drain plumbing,,, that actually went ok... then we started on the Durock install -   I got the Wrong thinset !  and to add the Insult to the Injury - did not realize it till I was trying to fill in the Builtin gaps in the Cement boards with the thinset that I realized it was not what I had done before..  and it was the WRONG stuff...  It meant that we had to remove the 3 sheets.. scrape off the thin set thws on it,,, Scrape off the Thin set that was on the floor and discard it... and literally start all over again.

Ok - then we installed the heating element and the SO called Self leveling cement that DID NOT !!  we added more and that made humps in the floor - we decided to go forward - that we could flatten the tile with thin set when we got there....   We installed the Ditra decoupling membrane that was recommended for this larger format tile...   nowhere did we read that the Thin set had to be really thin to get thru the Screening on the underside of the Ditra - well the Sheets did not stick to the FLooring,, and  we were back to the beginning - Remember the Durock ?  It meant that we had to remove the dozen or so tiles we had laid down,, and the 50 sqft of Ditra  - and clean all of that of the Tile thin set, scrape off the thinset that was on the floor and start all over again???  - so that's where it lays,,,,,

I think from here we need to level the floor - however that has to happen then reinstall the ditra - checking that its stuck to the Thinset BEFORE we put tile on it,,

We were able to get the window in correctly, the TUB installed, the Durock on the floor and Walls, all the electrical installed and the Plumbing installed, Sheetrock installed  on walls and Ceiling and 2 coats of mud on that, we sealed the Durock, and got two coats of RedGard on the Durock in the shower and oh yea the Readi Niches installed in the Shower walls,,, and a new vent, plus the Heated flooring mat installed - SO it was not a total disaster - Just a small Disaster...

So this week is Geez,, you could have killed yourself doin that week,...

Simple - I am finishing a wood project in the WOODSHED.   I am needing a piece of wwod that is say 4 feet long and 1/2 think....  humm - what do I have here - so I don't need to go to HD to get one,,,

Ah HA - I see it in the over head of the shed - Uop where they run a horizontal support across the Roof Rafter to hold them in place - I and using that space for a lumber rack,,,

Ok,, Get the 2 step step stool,   Lock it in place or so I think ,,,,  go Up ,, step one step two,,, reach for the end of that board we spied out  a minute ago and Whoosh ! The Stool collapses and flies across the floor.  I am falling  directly backwards heading toward the Floor of the Shed... 

There is my newly acquired chop saw on its Stand about  8 - 10 inches to my right......  there is my double shelf Craftsman metal tool box about  6 inches to  my left .. directly behind me  3 feet away is my wooden work bench - a variety of tools usually litter the floor - screw guns, Jig saws, hammer , crow bar, power sander, etc etc,,,, 

I hit the edge of the chop saw stand with my right arm, and the graze the tool box with my left arm....
BOOM - I mean fuckin BOOM - I hit the floor - back first then ass then head - Did I say f'ing BOOM - yea well  - BOOM,,  I miss the Chop saw and stand- I missed the Metal tool box corners, I miss the Work Bench....  and there is noting on the floor under me except a few construction screws,,,,  WOW

Hitting any one of those things on the way down, the Chop saw - the Metal box, the Work bench would have meant some kinda serious injury - certainly a concussion,,,   probably worse especially if I hit the Tool box or the saw,,,, and yes - although i have my phone with me - Its up in the Bench and my my would not have come to check on me until it got near Dinner time - which was like 3 hours away - so woof was this one close..  All over Hurrying,,, and not ensuring that the Step stool wa sin the locked position... Won't make that mistake again !!

So - what exactly is going on here,,,,,???

I am struggling thru this winter  - doing some work  around my place,  new corner desk for the Imac, with a  Drawer that I made,,, actually looks good.  Moved all the plastic tube containers from the Shed into the basement , had to build 4 new shelves for  them . This was a great Idea from my wife. It freed up lots of room in the shed.

Did I tell you that my Chow saw flipped off the plastic stand and the handle broke off,,, and sure enough no one had a replacement handle,  and I super Glued it without success.... So I have a new Dewalt 12" single compound - NOT a slider - saw and a Saw stand.  and BTW - at 1st use,, this thing cuts finer more accurate angles than the Craftsman ever could...

Anyway, I completed the Corner desk. and am building some Toy (Plumbing/Electrical/Nuts&Bolts) storage bins. Same design - I am just gonna get rid of a big tool box bottom, and replace it with these Bins. Next up 1)  New Cellar windows at my sons house,  2) a nice new Master bath - necessitating a week away on Short Island. 3) Rolling work cart for the Shed. 4) Week in America's playground to build a Fireplace hearth, Mantle install and new Ship lap for a Gas fireplace (maybe a trip to the Gun range shhhhhhhh  don't say nothing) (oh and a trip to Dillinger's in Boulder city for the Best Burger on the planet ) ........

Our country's political situation is worse,,,, This Memo that tRump says vindicates him does no such thing,  but the A hole GOP senators that may need th POTUS support for reelection are climbing up his ASS  to support his view. the Democrats have drafted their version of the MEMO - and surprisingly it was endorsed  unanimously  by the Senate Intelligence committee - now Dick head has 5 days to sign it and it gets released to the general public or reject it, so this ought-a be good.

Regardless of what side of aisle you are on - I want you to do an experiment for me. Turn on CNN and watch an hour of Anderson Cooper 360 or maybe split it up watchin 1/2 hr of OUTFRONT with Erin Burnett and then 1/2 hr with AC.,.  then switch to FOX news  - Sean Hannity  and or Tucker Carlson...   Now you tell me - Are we living in the Same country and seeing things the same way ?? Talk about Different interpretations of the same thing !!

Anxiously awaiting the mid term  elections to see if the Democrats can take back control of one or Both houses...   and what that will then mean to the Political outlook of the Country.

I'll tell you - I want to live 20 more years ( doubt I will ) but I want to see how even recent history looks back and views these days....   and will we asking Why did the other GOP senators and Congressman/Women not stand up and say - NO FING WAY - this is wrong,, or will it be played out the other way.....  I have said all along that this can of worms only opens fro real from the INSIDE OUT ,,, so It will take someone of character to stand up and call the POTUS an out and out liar and show proof - till that happens we are slogging Waist Deep in the Big Muddy - AGAIN

Open day in MLB is like 50 days away - Jesus it can't get here fast enough ......

#1 - Music Stores - Internet  Spotify Itunes, etc - or brick and mortar types  - do not only have only  a  ME or YOU version of music - they tend to have nearly every Genre of Music is because ART is subjective - but You Knew that.....    a Band that your friend would wait in line to get tickets and go see in concert might be the same one that If they were playing down the block and handing $10 to everyone entering you would not walk down there.  Age or Music type - Rock, oldies, Rap , classical does not matter,,, the same song that I love - you might  be a hater of,

#3 - I can't get into politics right now - I'll reserve comment at least for now - as to if tRump testifies or Not,,,,  Hey so New york State  Department of Labor wants to meet with me..  they sent a letter and they Emailed me online in my personal message inbox under the Department of Labor's unemployment pages,,  I got 3 forms to complete about who I am and who I am not,,, and a work history, and if I have been collecting monies from anyone during this time .   I am hoping that I can convince them that as a seasonal worker - no one is going to want to take th etime to train me for a month ,just to have me leave a month or two later..  

Oh and let me say that I will be going back to work at my part time seasonal Job - even though it will mean working 24 -32 hours a week and collecting $100 - $200 less PER WEEK working than I would get If I just stayed on unemployment !!   Now look - I don't want nor need any Applause for that,,, it is Just what is right. If you can work - you do.  and in case you are wondering why my weekly rate is pretty high,  Its because the State goes back 18 months in their formula to determine the weekly rate.so they capture my Full Time job at GF in that time period ,, next year will be very different...

#4 - Medical update - My God Damn toe still hurts like of the Hell !!  The pain is farther back in the foot - - I am wondering if they captured that in the x-rays, maybe something is broken there.  While he is checking my finger at my Monday appointment  he can reassess that foot. Speaking of the finger  - it is healing nicely - Stitches are starting to pull a little as the incision heals,,, they come out on monday ,,, and whoosh - no more  bump... I am wondering what the biopsy will show ??  what the heck was it - I am going with calcium deposit ...  we will see.


Today's songs are at the ends of their musical spectrum - I found the Eagles CD - Long road out of Eden,,,   so you get No more walks in the woods  and some ROCK with Green Day...  Are we the Waiting.....

SO I have especially good news today, - I have another Grandson!   That's 3 in case you are counting... Theodore Henry came into this world on Friday About 2pm,,, 7 lbs 3 oz,,,,  Mom  & Baby are both doing excellently - passing all their post Birthery Examinations !   He had a bit of a delicate start , as he was very blue according to reports - having the umbilical around his neck - but a little bit of rubbing and massaging his butt and back - and Poof ! Breaths and pinkied right up! So - just a few seconds  of Mom and Dad holding their Breaths until he took his !

So  - when did we last speak ??

It's been quite the few weeks,,, my S.O. had shoulder surgery, so we have been having like a "camp out" in the living room every night as she has to sleep sort sitting up. The Cats have been loving this ,,, they have been sleeping on top of the quilts on top of her,,,   This is the Scene from the LR on a nightly basis.

In the midst of this ,, I  think - i kinda lost the timeline here- but I managed to break a Toe, got my fat ass thru the doorway,, but not that little toe - So - i been hobbing around with that very fashionable hard sole shoe,,, very nice...  and yesterday I had that growth on my right  index finger surgically removed.



Typing is now a bit of a challenge - I'll update what the hell it was when the Biopsy results come back.

Two projects in the Planning stages... Headed to Vegas to do a Stone veneer Fireplace wall and Mantle installation,,, Mantle worries me because of the Weight. It's a Vintage REAL barn Beam. 6 feet long and 7 inch x 7 inch - weighs 50 pounds.

Then to "short" Isle for a Bath remodel, complete tearout and rebuild. I still need to write up the work plan for the Bath. But that's at the end of February - so I have time.

Hey - The NY State Labor folks have decided in my favor and withdrew the disqualification on my unemployment.  The 2 issues being 1) a compelling reason to leave my job and  2) the amount of monies earned since leaving that job.....  They saw my way on Both issues and withdrew the Disqual.  Should actually be getting some $$$ on Wednesday next - can't wait.

The Government is about to go into shutdown,,, but it is making me nuts to even discuss it. So Fuck it - for now......
