What's next ??

Now that is an interesting question ....

You start as a kid wanting to be a teenager - get a drivers license, have a prom date, graduate from HighSchool - Maybe go to college and graduate from there.  For some - finding thats someone  so Marry ?? Or these days S.O. is perhaps more popular.. Get a job or start a career - which ever way you think if it.  Make money - no money does not buy everything - however things go much easier with it than without it... now one does not need to be a millionaire - be being financially sound is a good thing.  Purchasing a home on the list ??  Advancing in that Career that was mentioned earlier... Is being your own boss a thing ??  Retiring ??  really ? from "gee can I bee a teenage " and have drivers license   to  it's time to think about retiring !    I know a little bit of info here....   you gotta have a What's next .  A Part time job,,  A hobby that you can do everyday  that makes you happy or at the very least Occupied...  How many Re-runs can you watch and can anyone watch that much TV. ??

But you better have a plan or develop one,.....  You know - well  "I know" folks that never stopped working,.. their career was there retirement - or they could not think of or think of themselves doing something else..... perhaps frightened at the prospect of not having that  JOB to fall back on to define themselves and/or don't want to do anything different , cause they think its below them to perform menial talks.

Listen - it's not too late - find that Niche - Volunteer , get a job even of you do not need the Money , It will get ya out of the house , it will let you interact with others, and hell you might even find you like it , even of its something you never thought of doing....   !  If you like to be outdoors then find a job where you can do that, plant flowers in the summer.   Want to be inside - only about 1000 jobs that let you do that,,, specially around the holidays and in the summer. I know this .. businesses love to hire folks - my age. You have experience of a life time of employment, Teamwork Communications skills, Interpersonal Skills. If you were any kind of successful at a Career / Job then you are dependable, have a flexible work schedule,   you are honest and hard working.  I tend to go to Disney World from time to time ...  Look at who they hire as Bus drivers, Boat Captains (don't need a Coast Guard License WDW is private waters) Hosts and Hostesses...   Retired FOLKS !!  Cause of the reasons I just described...  Bet those folks show up for work Early , and can stay late... If someone calls in they can - most times - drop what ever they were doing and come in to cover. Plus they are excellent role models for the younger employees  ...... What business does not want that !

OK - so think about WHAT's NEXT ,,, get a plan and get going , even if it's uncomfortable at first... Try this - do what ever the heck you come  up with for 60 days .... If it ain't working be honest and go try something else !!  Now GET GOING !!

I cannot believe that it has been Months since I have been here...  and so much has happened...


Look - the Crap with our current "President" has not changed,,,  Mueller is about set to unveil what he has found out ,,, and Comey and Cohen have both agreed to testify about what they know,,,, Roger Stove says he will never testify against tRump and I guess its just another Lie that the POTUS has said he wants truth to come out,,, but yet praises those who have kept their mouths shut and Vilifies those who have told the truth..  WE know what side of the TRUTH the POTUS is on. I continue to believe that there is someone out there with the GUTS to tell the truth and blow the lid off this thing,.  OR we might see that Mueller - has the truth ,, and then we see what the Republican push back is on his report...   Impeachment or Resignation = we can only hope..

We had a short trip to New Orleans, - very good .... Good food,,, good music,,,as you would expect... Did tour of the St Louis Cemetery #1...  extreemly interesting how they "bury" folks there... Glad we went , don't think I would go back any time soon.,,

We are on the cusp of a 10 day WDW trip....  and for folks that go twice  year - we have not been in TWO years !! So I am really looking forward to this trip. It's a bit longer than we usually go for.. , so I hope it gives us some real time to relax, wander  "The WORLD" and see all the Holiday shows and activities..  Definitely some new stuff to see and do in all the parks...

In 6 months - our Alaska will be underway...  and right before that - we have tickets to see the ROLLING STONES !! I can hope they all live that long !! And we live that long !

I am going to make this one a short post,,,,  with the Promise that you won't have to wait long before the next one...

SO - today's bitch is the hassle in finding a used car - and more specifically the price for a Used Car - in this case it's Truck - but no matter same thing.....   and this rant refers to USED CAR DEALERS, and maybe ore pointed at NEW car Dealers that also - like they all do sell used cars.....

OK got it !?!?!?! this getting a price on a used truck that  a Car Dealer has listed on the CAR FAX , and KBB web sites..  A nice Ford F150 - ample Photos so I can see the vehicle inside and out,,,,   77 Photos  - wow - like this was a 1st child ,.. they even took pictures of the door Jams !!  Cool - ...

Ok so I click the Link that SAYS "GET A QUOTE" - now - If you are purchasing a can of Beans say or a Pair of Shoes... mostly insignificant purchases in one life the price is right there on the can or shelf and posted right on the shoe box !!  Correct ??  But a vehicle that is a MAJOT purchase in ones life - for most of us ,,,,,  you have this cat and mouse game ,,, to find what the price is  ...l  So I clicked the GET A QUOTE ,,, and here is what I got back,,

DO YOU SEE A QUOTE  ???  I sure as hell do not !  What I see is info I already know  What Dealer the Truck is at ... What make and Model the Truck is... The options that are on the truck - and BTW what are listed as options are mostly standard equipment. The Car Fx Report - which I already saw !. the Mileage - Again - SEEN IT !  I am guessing you need and invite to visit the Dealership - cause she extends me one... and Even needs to schedule me an appointment to test drive the truck ..... Do  prefer an Email or Phone contact ??  What I prefer is what I asked for - A PRICE !!!

My Response was fairly pointed - I resent the Request for a Quote - they don't call 'em Prices.  I pasted in the Link from the Web that said "REQUEST for Quote" and asked If I needed to send that to a different department to get the Quote .  I thanked her for the info on the test drive.  and again,,, stated that what I preferred was  Price on the Truck !

If there is a better sound than your Grandson running toward you yelling Grandpa !! Grandpa  Grandpa !! and hugging you  ....   when you pick him up from after-school care and daycare - I don't know what it is,,,, the folks there just kinda look at you and say , well I guess you are his Grandpa huh ??  Now if I can just master those damn car seats ! We did not have these back in the day,,, these are are a combination of NASA and NASCAR technology - with the 5 part harness and all .. oh - and I still can't get the Babies Cradle holder out of that GD seat - no matter how many Buttons you push,, !!

We are starting to discuss moving out of this area and possibly to another State, Vermont or Pennsylvania  are the only real choices.  This possibly a fools errand. The Idea is to get a larger home for Family (we have no Friends) to come visit, and maybe near a Ski area so that would be an attraction. We have always wanted a log home - so we are starting there. As you might suspect this Market is all about location location location,,,  I found the perfect home , 3 Bedrooms, essentially two master Bedrooms , 2 plus baths, 2400 SW ft. All modern appliances,  a big ass fireplace ,, several Acres, a large 9 foot tall basement.  Simply a beautiful home - under $190K,,, SO now you are wondering where is this  ??  a Place Called Deposit, NY. As someone once said ,,, "I spent a week there  - one afternoon" ..  population 1700..... right,,, put this place in the lower Vermont and near a ski area, and its $400 K easy !!   So - no one would ever intentionally visit  DEPOSIT NY
I'll keep you updated - I am not sure we can even qualify for a mortgage now that we are retired !!

and ,,,I am - of course  - working today and tomorrow,,,,   today will be pretty lonely,,,, no co- workers after about noon,,, and mid week  - I doubt that I see many boaters,,,
I do have this weekend off - 1st Saturday and Sunday in months,,, and of course there are not stock car races to go to !

This week is a mess............

I have been painting,,  and sanding,,, ok I guess the other way round,,,  Sanding drywall and painting ceilings and walls,,,   walls look great,, ceiling is so - so..  We removed these fake wood beams that were glued to the the ceiling,,, in spots the paper came with them, and tin other spots the glue stayed there,,,, so after  scraping and coating and sanding,,, we should have just put new sheet rock up - it would have looked better and taken less time.  So we will see wha the home owner thinks,,

Walls need coat #2 and paint the heat vents, and the White trim, and install floor moldings and crown moldings,,  and then Whoosh - DONE !

Oh - my typing is a bit difficult ,,, as a managed to put a nail right thru my nail on my right  middle finger while I was removing them from the old Moldings,,,  Ouch and then some ....

Better not rain this Thursday,,,, I just spent the longest afternoon / Evening of my life at the Marina on Monday,, in the rain..  It is the only day that I remember it rained all day,,,, lighter and harder at times but all day...   NOT one person came down , nill, nada , no-one. I power washed some stuff and Cleaned all the light pedestals,,,  and was soaked ot the skin,,,  and bored to tears.....  we will see about Thursday,,,,

Now - lets discuss exactly where the helI think that my life is headed....  Do you have a life plan ? Like a business plan ? Immediate is easy...  1 year , 5 year ? 

An Upline - PRICK - Manager I used to work for - Willi Stark  - used to tell me thatI needed to show him a plan so he could shit all over me when I deviated from that plan,,,, never thought that I would survive him.  He literally fired me an nearly a daily basis.  

Ok - so Whats the Plan ?? Where do I really wanna be in 1 year ? Still working the Same Job ? I love working at the Marina ...  but keeping that job might mean that I sacrifice other things, like relocating. Can't live in New Hampshire or Upstate NY and work at this Marina ! Speaking of ... how do I start that , I do not have endless resources,,, I can't afford a nice place. I could afford a fixer upper. Which BTW - I would rather buy.  But it Seems that l the ads I read thatI can afford are what they Call "OFF THE GRID" That means no Power ,,,,, ugh ,,can't deal with that,....  

Let us just look at a possibility:  and then What order do things come in 

What if you look at 5 years and work backwards....

- Living in a new location

- Driving a different Car

- 90% finished working on the home I bought,,,

- Have time for my own wood work, or part time job.

- Buy a Truck (should be easy - right?)

- Locate and purchase a new house - 

   - more than 2 bedrooms

   - 2 plus baths or the possibility of adding a bath to an existing home

   - 10 Acres or More

   - Out Buildings or multiple car garage to have room for a wood shop.

   - Close , but not too close to services, food, medical, etc

   -  3 -4 hours from the Grand children 

   -  OK if it needs lots of TLC - just no Structural , foundations, etc,

   - Log home good, lake house Excellent

- Sell this house - I don't think I can sell this house while living here.
