Two items for today - Saturday Feb 8th,...
- Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi promised the Senate Judiciary Committee that she won’t use her power to pursue a so-called “enemies list,” even as she defended FBI Director nominee Kash Patel’s vow to target a list of people he views as “government gangsters.”
“There will never be an enemies list within the Department of Justice,” Bondi said under questioning from Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse .
So Pam Bondi made that statement- I think that was January 15 or 16... AND on FEB 5th ,,,,, this .... one of 17 memos that were issued by Bondi establishes the "Weaponization Working Group," which is tasked with reviewing "the activities of all department and agencies exercising civil or criminal enforcement authority of the United States over the last four years."
According to the Bondi memo, the new working group will "identify instances where a department's or agency's conduct appears to have been designed to achieve political objectives or other improper aims rather than pursuing justice of legitimate governmental objectives."
It mentions several specific things that it will examine,
- former special counsel Jack Smith,
- the prosecutors and the investigators who took part in the raid (a Search warrant signed by a Judge) on President Trump's home.
- The FBI agents who searched Trump's Mar-a-Lago club and his residence as part of its classified documents case.
- the Manhattan district attorney and the New York state attorney general "to target President Trump, his family and his businesses."
The Jan. 6 Capitol riot will also come under review, it says. The working group will look at "the pursuit of improper investigative tactics and unethical prosecutions" related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
