In the past month we have been doing an "update" on the Kitchen,,,, this started with covering up - unsuccessfully - the Popcorn ceiling,... which we ended up using a Shiplap.. from there it went to Painting the cabinets.... The the Back breaking work of jackhammering up the Floor, and in the same work - removing the under neath Cement board... that was about 8 hours with a 20 pound jack hammer,,, and then carting it all out the Truck via a garbage can and tarpful ... my Arms were totally cramped by y the end of that day...Ok,,, then the underlayment of Cement boards to lay tile on.... that has to get Thin-set cement under it plus screwed down. Tile is next ,, mind you all this is crawling around on your knees...... yea - I have knee pads,,, so that the strap cuts behind your knee ..... two tile cuts per row...30 some rows,,, thats 60 cuts... my Thrift store wet saw worked great !!! mix more thin set, Scrape that down in a 1/4 x 1/4 " row,,, then set tile and install levelers... we ended up using nearly 200...... - that's where we are now....
Oh , all this after moving the Dishwasher, Stove, Fridge out of the Kitchen into the Dining room
next: Remove the levelers.... Tuesday
Clean the tile - Tuesday
Grout - we have been warned that this grout with the Sealer in it - sets up really quickly - to the point that guys are using Ice water to mix it with because they can't set it fast enough ,,,, before it sets up hard in the bucket !!
Clean the Grout - the next day.... so - Maybe Wednesday
Figure out what the new Kickplate is gonna be,,, These are in reverse order.....
