SO - after a few days away from the Giant - I am taking her for a ride this morning - see ya around 9Am on the rail Trail !!

Sad news

This post begins with the news of the Passing of my Mother-in-Law - Nancy Jo Cote at age 79... she was overtaken with the Alzheimer's about 9 months ago. Seemingly the cruelest of diseases that start with forgetfulness  and confusion to the disease destroying the mond,, then the body.... leaving the family only to watch the degradation of  their loved one until the disease finally takes their life.

9 months seems a long time,,, but this is quick progression of the symptoms.  While many variations are know - This was clearly late onset as Nancy was in her 70's - and the guess is that this was the Lewy Body variation because it progressed so rapidly ... but no matter.


Nancy jo was married to Joe for nearly 60 years,,,  they shared a life that Started in Florida when joe was in the Navy, and progressed thru the years. They owned many many homes, refurbushing them and then moving to the next one. They once bought a house at the entry of a cul de sac only to sell it and but eh one at the end of the Same Cul De Sac a few years later.  Much of their life centered around boating, they owned near 3 dozen boats - Most named  "NANJO".  and there also, seemingly as the got one fixed up and set up like they wanted it,, they sold it and moved to the next one.  Joe owned a real Captains License and worked at many marinas. After his retirement from IBM And hers from Nursing at Vassar college they traveled back to Florida on their boat making that trip thru the Intercoastal waterway, to Fort Myers, Florida  - certainly the trip of a lifetime.  I first met them when they moved to Poughkeepsie when Joe joined Troop 2 as Assistant Scoutmaster. he brought a love of outdoors and their entire family was into the environmental movement,  with their home as "home-base" of the Recycling efforts of the troop that made u s money to purchase Tents, and camping equipment. I am not sure home many people would have put up with literally tons of Broken glass, aluminum cans and Newspaper being stored in their basement !!  During that time The Cote's fostered many babies,  that were between one care agency and being adopted to a forever home. Of Course they took on babies that needed special or extended care.  They moved to Virginia and I lost track of them for many years until they moved back (IBM = I've Been Moved)  to Poughkeepsie, and then I had the fortune to pick up their oldest daughter from the airport - she had stayed behind in Virginia to complete her nursing school - hummm - I think it was less than 2 years later we were married. Later in life the Cotes became involved in the Dutchess county SPCA, and Nancy fostered  many many Many kittens,,, one again the more difficult ones ,, that needed to be fed via eyedropper every two hours morning noon and night for weeks.... They adopted a dog  - Jade - with severe physical problems with walking - standing, etc, they have a cat - Trouble - with 3 legs.

At My Father's funeral - REV Ben Le'fevre asked the question of "how are thing with Frank Hoban today and went on to cite all the positives of his life - and not that we are not grieving the death but reminding us of the Life .  I would do the same here,,,, Nancy Jo is in no more pain and confusion, but at peace. Now I don't care what you believe of what happened to the spirit or Soul or if they are reincarnated,  but you know that the body is at rest. She has a loving husband of 60 years, 4 Children - Nancy, Susan, David and Gary. She was blessed with 6 Grandchildren  - Ryan, Sam, Daniel, Kim, Stephanie, DJ, - 3 Great Grandchildren - Patrick , Olivier,  I don't  recall DJ 's sons name right now...
She has a brother - Don, and sister in law - Casey,, Nieces and Nephews. She leaves a legacy of Giving and Caring for those that needed the most help   quietly reminding us that life is precious. So things are good with Nancy Jo today.  Of Course we are sad she is gone but we have a memory of her life as wife,  mother, grandmother, great grandmother,  sister, etc etc....

I believe that as  every person that is taken from us that we absorb the burden of their life - it is up to us to carry that on. Up to us to take up the slack in the line, So that they are remembered thru our actions, our life then being more that what we do, but what all those who came before did.  With each passing that responsibility gets heavier.

About 10 years ago Nancy Jo, and Joe ,, Nancy and I went to a concert of Pete Seeger and ARlo Guthrie at Beacon high School,, Now Nancy and I have seen Pete and Arlo 10 time - maybe more - this was the Best show of them together that we ever saw - Pete - in his eighties - at the time was on fire. It was a great concert. They played for nearly 2 hours and then performed 2 encores,  Although this version is from the 70's you get the Idea...

Should we spend the time and effort to investigate the President ?    Does  not the Congress have better things, more important things to do then this ?  Is this a witch hunt ? Is there fire behind all this smoke ?  is this cooked up by the CNN network and the Democrats ??

We need to understand IF the People running the country have allies in Russia ,...  I think the answer to IF Russia interfered with our election process is a Clear YES - now to what extend - we are not sure. Does the POTUS have business interests that would sway him and his presidency toward a certain relationship with Russia ? Rump has stated that he fired Comey because of his investigation into the POTUS ties with Russia.  Doesn't that tell you something ?  Say you got a speeding ticket and were then able to fire the police office that gave it to you so he could not show up in court - is that to simple an analogy ??  

Now we have Mueller as a Special investigator. he works for US Attorney General , Jeff Sessions, but he - Sessions - has recused  himself from the investigation,.. so really Deputy AG Ron Rosenstein is Mueller 's boss.  and he may recuse himself because he had a part in firing Comey - the head of the FBI - - got it,,,,  ???

Mueller is headed down 2 paths - one is the Obstruction of Justice  - did Rump attempt to interfere in the FBI's probe of Russian ties to the White house ?? and secondly  - and probably more importantly - Did the POTUS abuse his power to influence the investigation ? An offence that a carries with it an Impeachment of the President.

SO. if you think this is all a FAKE news issue that the Democrats cooked up - think again,,,, These are serious allegation against the POTUS that need answers.  THIS IS NOT NORMAL.  What has happened to our country in the last - holy shit - its only been 5 months is not right and not the way it should be. Rump says he will shake things up ....  by what breaking the Law ? Being a Dick ?

 Where there is this much smoke there is fire - and I believe that Mueller will find it out. 

I am waiting for someone to "Jump Ship" - someone on the inside with the President that will come clean with the Facts .. and then the house of Cards will begin to  crumble..

the legs have started once again to offend me,  seems every night there is a full out attack on them.  Not sure of something change with me or I am not taking the medication as directed,, so Starting today will be orte cognisant of the times of application and dosage to see if that affects the out come..

Have not gotten to ride - what will now be 3 days.... ugh,,, need to get back to that,,, between working & weather - no time...  Will hope for tomorrow morning, as Thursday will again be with the Kids,,, and Friday  - now that should be the day.

The POTUS continues to be a joke,,, Tweeting about TRAVEL Ban , while the Justice department makes the Case in court that this is not a Travel Ban.  Sean Spicer has disappeared to who knows where,,, if I were him,, I'd be leaving for a remote island somewhere rather than answer anymore questions.  The White house now parades out Sarah Huckabee Sanders to take the flax from the press core. The press knows Spicer is in the WH and she acknowledges that is true,,, but can't answer why he is not doing the briefing.... good god,.... can we get to the important stuff and stop with the BS ..

Was invited via Email to a Lunch and 1/2 or so acoustic show at Utopia Sound studio at the home of WDSt in Woodstock. The show was Barns Courtney - his name is Barnaby - so yep Barns is he real name.... he was excellent. he can sing , he can play,, he was very witty when talking to MK and did a really good 1/2 of music. You might know "Glitter and Gold"  or "Fire" from an EP he has out.  26 year old kid so he has some time to grow into being a performer,,, it was a great mid day - and got to see the Day time DJ's - Jimmy Buff, MK and Greg Gattine......  so check out Barns and maybe be the 1st on your block to intoro your friends to him.............   some great lyrics

Let's move onto the sleeping, Still can not get past 5am or so,... and wake up regularly at 2:30 - 3am -and am ready for the Day....   not sure why. my normal day has me exhausted - from work -yea even a marina job is work.. or plumbing at the sons house or catching up around here,,, so who knows when and even If I get back to what you would think are normal sleeping habits.

When I do get back to the Bike - and you might want o join me ion the Hudson valley rail trail... I am normally at Morgan Lake trail head around 8-8:30 am time and then go back East out to route 55 by 9-9:30am or so,,, I usually go West 1st toward Highland , but that side of the river the trail is rally beat up and not smooth to ride on, so I don't go far.  I then go back East - Recrossing Morgan Lake, and Overrocker road, and RT 55,, Crossing Titusville road by Golds Gym,  good spot to stop in back of the GYM for a rest. thats about a 20 miler , then Diddle road and maybe all the way to Hopewell Jct - although i admit I have only made it that far 4 or 5 times,  Hopewell is nearing 30 + miles,,, so git yer bike and let's go !!!   Hey did I say I got these bike shoes and Pedals that you lock in to ,, what a difference,,, to you push down with one foot while pulling up with the other,,,  Definitely can go faster with this setup !!

Thursday - spending the day with the Grand Sons in Yonkers, should be a great day of Bubbles, sand castles, dodge ball, baseball, Star Wars, Paw Patrol ,,,, etc,,,

Friday - kinda open,,, morning bike ride - 9 am - 9:30 at route 55  if anyone is interested in riding along,  as the wife works all day - I have a list of things that need doing.

- Lawn mowing & Super Weed trimming job.

- Re checking the wiring harness and Blower fan on my AC/Heat in the car.

- Some point gotta go to the HVFCU.

- a reroute of the Leader and downspout on the Shed.
