So ?? Whats Next .??

34 years , UP  and Vanished like a Fart  in the wind, as they say... everyone asks - whats next,, what cha Gonna be doin ?? Travel ?  Work at a new job?

Well ,,,  I'll tell ya whats next,..

- A part time job at Norrie Point Marina - collecting Ramp fees, and selling Ice and water

- Finish the boys playroom and the Associated Bathroom , with the fancy up flush toilet..  so several trips to Yonkers.....

- You can find me any day bicycling along the Rail Trail,,, read that is I plan on  every day.  Come on and ride along,,, my usual is early morning 7 - 9 AM  or like afternoons  2:30 - 3:30pm  - passing points like the Trail head at Morgan Lake, or  Over Rocker road , then passing by my pals at Moriarty Physical Therapy, and going on to  behind HG Pages...  Ill be the FAT guy with the Grateful Dead shirt on !

- Tooling around my Yard,,, getting that grass going Green, Cementing my Steps, and fixing my Stone wall,,,

Going to Ashokan and Bowdoin Park to watch  the Eagles,,,

 

And in the Beginning,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

IF you  do not count delivering newspapers, shoveling snow, mowing lawns, raking leaves,, etc,,, then the The 1st job I was ever hired to do was in a shoe store. It was down town  Poughkeepsie,  I do not remember the name of the place, but it was near Tee Pee Dashery.  I could stock shelves and clean up ,, that sorts stuff ,, not sell shoes... Now that's not the Story with that job,, the story is that I never worked at that Shoe store. On the way home from getting that job,,,  I stopped in to see a friend of mine at a Gas station on Raymond Ave - a Chevron station across the street from Frivolous Sal's bar... the Station was right about where Zimmers jewelers is today, and although  I was just there to say hello,,the owenr of the place told me that the kid he had pumping gas quit that day and was I interested in working after school and Saturdays,,,,  I'd be pumping gas , running the Car wash, cleaning the bays,  that sorta stuff.  I worked for Dave Clossen for about 2 years... and never even went back to the Shoe store !  I had jobs in Tire and Auto places,  half assed mechanic,,, doing breaks, and shocks, front end work,,,  and eventually moved up (if you think so) to managing those places in Wappingers, Fishkill , New City, Montvale, Shrub Oak,,, until  1983 

I joined  IBM - and between them for 32 years and GLOBALFOUNDRIES the past 2 ,, I have been here  34 years,,,, a Life time...  my life time.....my  plan was to really retire at the end of 2017,,,, but GF offered a buy out ,,, lots of Salary , and Benes, to go ,, literally NOW., gone here by the 25th,,,, Could not pass it up  !   

Looks now like I will be unemployed somewhere between 24 and 48 hours,,,, I don't wanna tip my hand,, however you can probably find me at my next high tech job of Selling Ice and Water, and doing general Marina chores starting Wednesday or Thursday working for NY state..
I will say that as Cynical as I am ,,, so far - this whole thing could not have worked out more in my favor if I scripted it .

WHOA - when I says WHOA ! I means WHOA !

So now its getting real -  this is whats bringing it up close and personal ...

- Form filed with HR on the April 11th

- Confirmation that my acceptance of the "Package" has been approved - 3pm Email on the 18th

- Telling my Department that I have been approved for the VSP,,, you know 2 applauded !! Funny

- My manager holding a meeting to discuss who is covering for me from April 25th (My last Day - yep - I said that - My Last Day) to May 18th when I actually will be separated from the company.

-  Cleaning out my Desk, throwing all that crap that I kept for 34 years,  that even I dont want.

-  Peers planning a lunch to commemorate the occasion, ok,,, guess I gotta go... 
   Was gonna be 3 - now I hear 20 people - Jesus wept..

I'll keep you updated in the progress as we get  closed to my RETIREMENT DATE !!!
